About Parish

Mela Ilandaikulam was one of the substations of the parish of Kayathar. It is 5 km away from Kayathar. People of this village are very much attached to church. Their faith is very strong. Day by day catholic population also increased. Diocese has established a High School, which was later ion upgraded as Higher Secondary School. Due to this school people were well educated. It was felt that it was not enough to develop people educationally but also to improve them spiritually. For this purpose it was decided to establish Mela Ilanthaikulam as separate parish. Most Rev. A. Jude Paulraj issued the order of erecting a new parish on 30th May 2003. Fr. Charles was the first parish priest of Mela Ilandaikulam.
