Holy Saturday and Easter Vigil This whole day went silently and the people were in the mood of celebrating the Pascal Celebrations. In the Cathedral our r bishop Most Rev. Jude Paulraj lead the service. First of all, the liturgy of the Light was very meaningful and wich portrays that Jesus is the Light of the World. Fr. Terrence delivered the Easter Message. He pointed out “ the resurrection of Our Lord must be shown in the newness of our life and our relationship with God and our neighbor
Good Friday This is the day that our Lord offered His Life for the redemption of the world. The whole day people flocked towards the Church to adore the Lord. In the evening at the Cathedral the liturgy started with Word of God. Bishop delivered the Good Friday message on the Passion of our Lord which should by reflected in our day today life.
Maundy Thursday
The veneration of the Cross was meaningfully observed by the faithful with deep emotion. More than 2000 people participated in the service.
Palm Sunday The culmination of the Lenten Season is the Holy Week. The first day of the Holy Week is Palm Sunday. All the parishes celebrated this feast in a grand manner. Our bishop Most Rev. A. Jude Paulraj and Rt. Rev. JJ Christudoss, CSI Bishop of Tirunelveli diocese participated in the Palm Sunday procession together with the people of RC CSI Cathedrals and people from Glorintha Church Pastorate More than 2500 people participated in this Holy Procession.
The Diocesan Lenten Pilgrimage - 2010The Diocesan Lenten Pilgrimage was held at St. Antony's Shrine, Puliampatty. People from all the parishes of the diocese of Palayamkottai flocked towards Puliampatty. The Holy Rosary was recited at 2.30 PM followed by the preparation for the sacrament of reconciliation, arranged by Palayamkottai Vicariate. Many people used this opportunity to make good confession. The way of the Cross was at 5 PM and it was conducted by priests and the faithful of Tenkasi Vicariate.Our Bishop Most Rev. A. Jude Paulraj offered Holy Mass together with our diocesan and religious priests.More than 7500 people participated in this pilgrimage.
The Lenten Procession in the Cathedral parishThe Lenten Procession in the Cathedral started from St. Xavier's Cathedral with a prayer by our bishop Most Rev. A. Jude Paulraj and he lead the procession with priests and the faithful. More than 2000 people participated in the procession. It ended at Nallayan Campus, Market where Fr. SM Arulraj, APP of the Cathedral with Anbium people conducted the Way of the Cross followed by Holy mass offered by our beloved bishop.
The annual retreat for village catechistsThe annual retreat for village catechists was held at Jubilee Pastoral Center, Shanthinagar. 98 catechists participated in this retreat. first day Rev. Fr. John Melkies (Sub-editor, Nam Vazhvu) lead the sessions like Talk, Holy Hour, Confession. Rev. Fr. F. Selvan, Secretary to the bishop celebrated Holy Mass and delivered the homily on the topic 'daily challenges of a catechist'. 2nd day: our bishop Most Rev. A. Jude Paulraj came over and offered Holy Mass and gave message on the topic ' participating in the common priesthood'.
CBCI -Meeting in Guwahati CBCI meeting is going on in Guwahati. The Arch Bishops and Bishops from allover India are participating in this important meeting.
Lent StartsThe season of Lent is started on 17 th Feb 2010. Ash Wednesday marks the beginning of the season of Lent. It is a season of penance, reflection and fasting which prepare us for Christ's Resurrection on Easter Sunday. Our Bishop celebrated the Holy Mass at the Cathedral on that day and more than 2000 people participated in the Holy Mass and received Ashes.
Feast Mass, PuliyampattiMost Rev. Edward Francis, Bishop Emeritus of Sivagangai celebrated the feast Mass at 12.00 noon. 25 priests and more than 20,000 people participated in this feast.
Corus christi procession, PuliyampattiCorus christi procession, Puliyampatti was held on 07th February 2010. Rev.Msgr.S.Antonysamy, Vicar general, celebrate the holy mass and lead the procession towards the Grotto of Our Lady.
Annual feast 2010, PuliyampattiThe annual feast of St. Antony's Shrine, Puliyampatti was started with flog hoisting mass by our Bishop. More than 5000 people participated.
TNBC 2010 mid-year meeting - kottarThe TNBC 2010 mid-year meeting was held at Kottar. All the Bishops from Tamilnadu participated in this function. They discussed how to celebrate the forthcoming youth year 2010 – 2011.
Blessing of the adoration chapel at Shanthi NagarOur bishop blessed the adoration chapel after the confirmation mass at Shanthi nagar. More than 2000 people and 20 priests participated in this ceremony. The monitory help for the construction of the adoration chapel is done by the pilgrims and faithful of the Shanthi nagar Parish.
